Good News from the Bible College

in Angeles City , Phillipines

This article was taken from a conversation via Instant Messenger to Rev. Devonshire, who is currently ministering with his wife and baby and the Delacruz’s in Angeles City .  The team in Angeles City was thrilled about what the Lord was doing and the GoodNews Site wanted to share the Good News of what God is doing in hearts around the world.

Rev. Devonshire says:

Quick note on what happened today.

We have started a new outstation in a province called Nueva Ecija.

This is our third Monday of driving there, it is a little over two hours away.

We preach in three different areas of one place.

This week I had Rev. Delacruz preach.

There were close to 200 people with anywhere from 20-40 praying for salvation in 3 different services.

It is really neat!

GoodNews says:

wow, 200 people, that's a lot.  Praise God.

Rev. Devonshire says:

Right it is neat to see the people gather, the farmers and their families.

GoodNews says:

So how do you do an outstation?  I’ve heard that term before, but I don’t quite understand it.

you go 2 hours away but how do you get the word out to meet us for church? Do you meet them at the well or near the barn or what???

Rev. Devonshire says:

Well we have many outstations that are close to our church that are run by the students.

We go there at whatever hour seems best, ie, they saw a bunch of men that gathered at 6:45 in the morning and waited to go inside a compound to start work.

So the brothers decided to go and hold a preaching session there while they are waiting.

They go three times a week.

This one we have started in the new province is the farthest and is inspired by the fact that Sis. Delacruz is from there.

GoodNews says:

that's neat

so was there just 200 people waiting around

and u start preaching to them

Rev. Devonshire says:

She has a sister and two other girls who come to her house.

They have become Christians and they are also from that area.

So we went to the one place where the one sister lived.

She had never ever been soulwinning before.

and we told her to invite everyone to her place at a set time

we then went to the other side of town to locate a place to preach there.

We found a huge basketball court with a roof next to the city hall that we used.

By the time we got to the sisters house, she had gathered 60 or so people!

the next week she had gathered more

and this week even more came.

Rev. Devonshire says:

But the 200 is a total of the three

GoodNews says:

oh, ok.  but still, that is great

Rev. Devonshire says:

The first time in one place today they had 80-90 people

It is hard to count the people sometimes.

GoodNews says:

sure

so when it's over and you pray or have an altar call of some type?

how do you get them to come back

just thru the sister?

Rev. Devonshire says:

Yes, we go there, open the bible, start preaching, give an altar call, or more specifically say follow me in this prayer of salvation.

and then invite them to come back the next week.

Our plan is to turn it over to a bible college student in the next couple of weeks.

GoodNews says:

what a great harvest of souls to start with.

Rev. Devonshire says:

Rev. Delacruz, is still improving his language skills, but broke away from the interpreter (his wife) and preached in straight Tagalog today for a little while.

GoodNews says:

Praise God!

By the way, How is your new baby doing, William?

how old is he now?

Rev. Devonshire says:

Getting bigger. He turns nine months on the 21st

GoodNews says:

wow.

Rev. Devonshire says:

Long flight for him to Conference.  Say a prayer for him, if you remember.

It is 20+ hours flying to Seattle and then 12 hours there and  an overnight to Pittsburgh .

GoodNews says:

is he crawling yet, almost walking?

Rev. Devonshire says:

He is crawling a bit, but I think he will go straight to walking.  He is taking steps as we hold his hands.

GoodNews says:

Would you mind if I share this goodnews on the website? To encourage others?

Rev. Devonshire says:

Go ahead,  It is exciting to us, and maybe it will remind people to pray for us.  We are working towards a big sunday July 22.  Goal is 1500 and we can use all the prayers we can get.

Do you have an encouraging report you'd like to share with us?  If so, please email your testimonies to wwjd2009@hotmail.com .  We'd love to hear from you.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, THINK ON THESE THINGS! Philippians 4:8
