Life Giving Word

Jas 1:18  Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Jos 1:8  This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Joh 15:7  If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

James tells us that it was by the Word that we were begotten.  Born from the Word of God.  God has a great love for His Word.  He even called His Son, The Word!  If God loves His Word, then let us use His Word when we come to Him in prayer.

Joshua told us that “..this book of the law shall not depart out of thy MOUTH…”  We are to speak it, and why not pray it?  His own words and promises given to us will certainly rise quickly to His ears!  Yet, we can not speak what we don’t have.

When Jesus tells us in John “…if my words abide in you…” we almost have to ask, are His words abiding in me?  How much do I retain and remember of my daily bible reading?  Could this be one reason for unanswered prayer?  For He went on to say “…ye shall ask what ye will and it shall be done unto you.”  But what if His words don’t abide with me? It shall not be done unto me….

Let us then remind ourselves once more of the importance of God’s Word.  It gave life, gives life, and will give life.  Thank God for His life giving Word.

Finally, Brethren,
    whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are honest,
    whatsoever things are just,
whatsoever things are pure,
    whatsoever things are lovely,
whatsoever things are
                           of good report
    if there be any virtue,
and if there be any praise,

THINK ON THESE THINGS!
- Philippians 4:8
