“a door of hope”
(Hosea 2:15
KJV) "And I will give her her vineyards from
thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope: and
she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and
as in the day when she came up out of the land of
Egypt."
When I read the
above scripture, I can not help but couple its words of
promise, with what Jesus said in (John 10:9 KJV) "I am
the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved,
and shall go in and out, and find pasture."
I’m glad that
in a world of despair, of loneliness, of prejudice, of
hatred, of wickedness, and sinfulness that there is
Hope! A door of Hope that was swung wide almost two
thousand years ago and it still stands open for
“whosoever will” too come. A door that God opened and
no man can shut!
A door as you
know is both a point of entrance and a point of exit, a
point of getting in and a point of going out. Jesus is
this door! He is the place of entrance into all of the
promises of God. It is by Him that we find a point of
entering into the Salvation of God. And yet rejection
of Him puts us right outside of the Gates of the
Glorious City of God.
There is hope
regardless of your sin, regardless of your past a door
stands wide open for you. THE DOOR OF OPPORTUNITY:
It’s a door to a new beginning:
And yet men
have failed to correctly use this door as we find Gomer
did in the book of Hosea and they loose for a time their
chance at true rest. Look at the golden opportunity she
had at the beginning:
Here was a
reputable man willing to accept her even after all she
had done. Yet she left it all to follow after her
lovers. She left her first love thinking that her
lovers could offer her more – yet (v. 8) shows us that
“… she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and
oil, and multiplied her silver and gold…”
She had shut
the door of opportunity on herself! So many millions
have done just this very thing!
Now they sit in
a prison house of their own making. Afraid, alone,
depressed, and convicted, realizing they missed their
golden opportunity – their once and a lifetime chance!
Yet there is,
even here a door of Hope! For notice Hosea gave her a
second opportunity! Aren’t you glad that Jesus is a God
of second chances?
(Isa 1:18 KJV)
"Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD:
though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white
as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be
as wool."
Here we find
the door of hope once again swinging wide making a way
for us to enter in.
It’s not to
late! You’re not past hope! Jesus said “behold I stand
at the door and nock…” can’t you hear Him? Listen,
there it is again… all you have to do is open the door
and find the hope you’ve always wanted waiting just
outside the door!
