A ROOM WITH A VIEW

TEXT:    (John 14:2 KJV)  "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you."

Almost every adult man or woman has, at some time or another, had a “dream house”.  A place that they, if asked, could describe in vivid terms that would conjure up for the listener an image that has long been held in the mind of the dreamer.

In the description of such a dream house, almost every one will describe a “room with a view” which overlooks some kind of landscape setting or picturesque seen.

And so I would like to describe for you my dream house.  It is a place that was outlined in our text a place that has been prepared for me by my Lord.  It is a place of beauty, it is a place of majesty and most definitely it is a place that has a room with a view.  In fact the Bible tells us that in (1 Cor 2:9 KJV),  "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."

Let me endeavor to take you there, to that place of my dreams, and walk you through the front door and straight into see the majestic scenery of this room!

IT OVERLOOKS THE SEA:

(Rev 15:2 KJV)  "And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God."

My room overlooks that sea mentioned here in Revelation known as “the Sea of Glass ”.

Here John speaking of it says it was as it were, a sea of glass, mingled with fire.  Why?

It was brilliant and dazzling, reflecting not the image of the sun, that would be beautiful enough, but this was the radiant beauty of the Son of God seen mingled in the reflection of that sea.

IT TAKES IN THE MOST BEAUTIFUL LANDSCAPE:

There is a River:  (Rev 22:1 KJV)  "And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb."

(Ezek 47:6 - 10 KJV)  "And he said unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen this? Then he brought me, and caused me to return to the brink of the river.  Now when I had returned, behold, at the bank of the river were very many trees on the one side and on the other.  Then said he unto me, These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed.  And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh."

And Beautiful Vegetation:  (Rev 22:2 KJV)  "In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations."

IT VIEWS A GREAT THRONE:

Isaiah testified of the beauty of this Great Throne:

(Isa 6:1 - 3 KJV)  "… I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.  Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.  And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory."

Ezekiel adds some detail:

(Ezek 10:1 KJV)  "Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared over them as it were a Sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne."

But John gives us the real reason for viewing it:

(Rev 4:2 – 4 KJV)  "And immediately I was in the spirit; and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.  And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.  And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold."

So much too see, and eternity to see it!  Oh how I long to see my Room with a View!

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, THINK ON THESE THINGS! Philippians 4:8
