"BINDING THE HANDS OF JESUS" Part
2
Mar 15:1 And
straightway in the morning the chief priests…bound
Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to
Pilate.
We noticed last
week that one is guilty of binding the hands of Jesus
when they refuse to obey the Gospel message by rejecting
His death, burial and resurrection for their sins. Yet
how else are we guilty of hindering our Lord’s work in
and through our life?
By refusing to
be transformed!
Jesus wants
us to be transformed! A transformation that involves
renewal of the mind – and life style
Rom 12:1
-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the
mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living
sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your
reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world:
but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that
ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and
perfect, will of God.
This renewal
occurs as we read, study, and meditate upon the Word of
God - 1 Pe 1:23-2:2; Ph 4:8
But many
Christians neglect the very things that bring about this
renewing! They allow other things to take precedence in
their lives, and in so doing they "bind the hands of
Jesus" and do not change!
Are we guilty
of this? We are, if we neglect to study the
Bible on our own! We are, if we fail to take advantage
of opportunities to study with others through assembling
together with the believers.
By doing these
things we neglect the transforming power of the Word of
God, and we are just as guilty of "binding the hands of
Jesus" as were those who delivered Him to Pilate!
Imagine, hands
that formed man from the dust of the ground; hands that
were stretched forth to heal the blind eyes; hands that
felt the pain of the nails; and hands that can do
anything you need done…yet bound, unable to intervene
because of a decision to stay the same.
Psa 119:73 JOD. Thy hands have made me and fashioned
me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy
commandments.
