Lifting up Truth
Isa 59:14 And judgment is turned away backward, and
justice standeth afar off:
for
truth is fallen in the street, and equity
cannot enter.
Truthfulness
seems to be a hard to find characteristic in our
society.
The
story is told of a crowded New York subway car where the
clink of change falling to the ground caused people to
turn in that direction to see an older gentleman picking
something up. In a loud voice he said “Did anyone drop
a half dollar coin?” Two men and one women
simultaneously answered “I did!.” The gentleman replied
with a smile “Well here is a dime of it!” In that quick
moment, three people had chosen fifty cents over truth
and their integrity.
When
Jesus came to this earth, He identified Himself as The
Truth. Is it any wonder why He would tell us we need to
worship Him in “spirit and in truth?” (John 4.24)
He
told us the truth would set us free. (John 8:32 )
Then we
must also wonder, how many are kept in captivity and
bondage because of lies?
The
psalmist tells us “Thou desirest truth in the inward
parts…” (Psa 51:6)
Let us
give God what He desires, and lift up our fallen friend,
truth.
