The devil’s Armor

Luke 11:22

22  But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.

 We know that God provides armor for His people.  Armor to protect them against satan’s attacks (yes I am using lower case on purpose for the devil and satan).  But this scripture shows us that the devil provides armor also.  We can almost hear the clanging of armor jingling together as unbelievers walk into the church, fully equipped to protect them from the truth.

 The devil’s helmet:  A helmet protects our head, our mind and thought life, the devil’s helmet consists of keeping the thoughts on anything and everything but God and the things of God. 

 Breatsplate of unrighteousness, this a favorite part of the devil’s armor, when someone has a favorite sin they don’t want to give up, it attempts to guard their heart from God’s dealings.

 Waistbelt of lies: like the waistbelt of truth holds the parts of the Christian armor together, the lies of the devil hold together his armor.

 The devils sword: The Sword of the Spirit is the Word of God and the bible described the sword coming from the mouth of the Lord (Rev. 19.15). It is the Christian’s offensive weapon, the devil gives an offensive weapon that proceeds from the mouth of his minions: gossip, libel, slander and accusations against the people of God.

 Feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, Being prepared with God’s promises protected the Christian’s feet and mobility, the devil prepares people with excuses of why they can’t serve God, or overcome their sin.

 Shield of faith provided the overall protection for the Christian, the devil gives a shield of doubt, as the preacher is preaching and telling them that they can have a new life, the devil helps the person raise the shield of doubt and says it just can’t be so, you will never be able to have a new life, that doesn’t apply to you, etc….

 Ahhh!  But one sure arrow from the bow of the Lord in the joints of the harness, one sure verse from God’s Word, one direct message from God, and the Lord takes away the armor the devil had prepared for the sinner, saves him, and gives him the armor of the Lord!
