Only Eternity will reveal all that has been accomplished in Holy Ghost energized fellowship meetings! so said one man of God many years ago, and how true it is!
The anticipation, the excitement, the joy and the moving of the Holy Spirit, all combine to create an atmosphere where wonders are done.
I well remember times as a new Christian when the churches got together and worshipped the Lord. Just seeing other brothers and sisters singing and shouting and dancing lifted our spirits. God seemed to have a special message for us. Whether we were shouting, weeping, praying or repenting it was all good.
Then, as a preacher, fellowship meetings took on even greater significance. They were, and are, a great time for the hosting church congregation to "Catch the Vision" and see what it is like to have their church full. It's a wonderful time for the new Christians to see that there are others that believe and live just like we do, and for the church to hear preaching from another minister that backs up all the things you have been saying. For the pioneer pastor, who has been digging out a work for God, the fellowship meetings provide the chance to hear preaching from another brother, a welcome spiritual refreshing! If we were blessed enough to have an overseer, or Pastor Davis in town, it could almost take on a "Conference" feel.
Then to top it all off, fellowship and food (we Christians like that!) A time to feed our bellies, but more important to feed our minds with new ideas, and challenge our souls with the good reports happening elsewhere. What fellowship meeting would be complete without sharing a few messages that have been preached, some promotions that have been used, and some reminiscing about bible college, or other fond memories, while making more memories at the same time. Storing up the fellowship and memories to draw from during the "In between times." Then during the drive home, savoring the blessings and looking forward to the next one.
How many have been saved, or filled with the Holy Ghost, or challenged to live a separated Holy Christian life...well we will finish how we started: Only Eternity will reveal all that has been accomplished in Holy Ghost energized fellowship meetings!
