Merry Christmas
“To those that sat in the valley of the
shadows of death a light has sprung up!”
As that special time of year known as
Christmas approaches, many hearts are
rushing, preparing and looking forward for a
wonderful time of sharing gifts, food and
laughter.
Yet looking at the faces of many, the joy
that this celebration is meant to bring is
not present. That’s because Christmas
without Christ is not Christmas. Many of us
have memorable memories of childhood times;
of family reunions; gift sharing and
celebration.
But let us remember that the magic of
Christmas is not the lights that decorate
the homes and trees, but the True Light that
shines in our darkness, it is not the food
of the festivities, but The Bread of Life
that sustains us. It is not the gifts that
we receive from others, but the gift He gave
to us, His redemption. Yes, the magic of
Christmas is the redemption that Christ came
to give; the peace that forgiveness brings.
How far or to what extent are we willing
to bring worship to Christ? Let us recall
the wise men who traveled from far they
found the Christ because they followed the
Star. Stars shine their brightest in the
darkest of hours. In the darkness of this
world Christ can be found when the Star is
visible. There is hope for humanity when
this Star is shown brightly. Let us not
forget to bring to Jesus the gift of our
hearts. When we do so, He places that light
in us. Let children see that Star in the
hearts of parents; let those round and about
us see that Star in us. Let us bring to
Christ the greatest of gifts, the gift of
worship. The babe of the manger has become
our King, our priest, and Savior.
Blessed be the God of our salvation. Merry
Christmas!
