To My Pastor
I saw the Lord the other day, he looked at me and smiled,
he helped me through the roughest time as a father does a child.

I saw the Lord the other day, he took the time to talk,
he cared enough to tell me of the way that I should walk.

He helped me through a battle that did seem so hard to bare,
he took the time to show me that he really, really cares.

I never knew a person that could care so much you see,
and who would stand up in the gap and make a hedge; for me?

You helped me realize that God did not want me to fail,
and that if I would just stay true the Lord He would prevail.

Oh, thank you for the strong reproof, the correction you did give,
and thank you most of all, my friend, for the life that you have lived.

Salvation comes through Jesus Christ in this we both agree,
but how would I have heard His name with out a man like thee.

I saw the Lord the other day, yes this is very true.
I saw the Lord the other day in everything you do.
